eOn Communications Unveils eNterprise Series of Telephones

CRM Headline News

ATLANTA (August 29, 2006) – eOn Communications Corporation™ (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies) (NASDAQ: EONC), a leading provider of telecommunications solutions, today unveiled its next-generation eNterprise series of telephones that deliver innovative applications, provide greater ease-of-use and give Millennium® Converged Communications Platform customers greater flexibility in meeting the diverse desktop communications requirements of today’s enterprises. For office-based employees, telecommuters, call center agents and office visitors alike, the eNterprise telephone series offers cost-effective options, a common user experience and easy access to the advanced communications features of the Millennium.

The eNterprise telephones feature the latest in ergonomic design with a five-position tilting base stand, small desktop footprint, and a compact handset design for comfort handling. Customizable feature keys offering easy access to a broad range of advanced features and an intuitive feature operation combine to provide enhanced communications user experiences. Whether the choice is IP, digital, analog or a combination of all three, the eNterprise series of telephones provide a better way for enterprise users to communicate, to collaborate and to be more productive.

“The eNterprise series of telephones is the latest solution from eOn Communications that enables enterprises to simultaneously leverage the benefits of network convergence, protect existing communications infrastructure investments and prevent business disruption.” said David Lee, Chief Executive Officer, eOn Communications. “All eNterprise telephones are compatible with the Millennium system and existing interface cards and can co-exist on the same system with earlier generation telephone sets.”

eNterprise IP Telephones
The eNterprise IP telephones leverage standards-based technologies to extend hundreds of proven communications features of the Millennium to users over IP networks. All offer the following advanced capabilities: SIP Based: The eNterprise IP Telephones employ Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to enable seamless connectivity to the Millennium anywhere there is access to an IP network, including those that provide connections between distributed offices and teleworkers worldwide.

Simplified Management: The eNterprise IP telephones automatically obtain IP address assignments via DHCP, reducing the time and costs associated with traditional adds, moves and changes. The phones’ software based design extends investment protection by enabling easy addition of new features and next generation communications technologies.

Dual-Port Connectivity: The telephones are LAN/WAN capable using 10/100 base-T Ethernet with auto-sensing and switching. An internal 10/100 Mb Layer 2 switch enables the user's phone and any other IP device, personal computer or other, to connect to the same network port for voice/data connectivity, reducing cabling requirements and network management.

Multiple Powering Options: Power over Ethernet (PoE) enables power from the power sourcing equipment, typically a switch or router, to the phone over Ethernet cabling via the IEEE 802.3af specification. By supporting PoE, eNterprise IP telephones eliminate the need for a separate AC power source near the phone. In locations where PoE is not available, eNterprise IP telephones can be equipped with an optional AC power source for added flexibility.

The eNterprise IP telephones are available in 32-button and 22-button configurations, each equipped with a factory-installed display, speakerphone, and integrated headset jack. Plus, optional IP 48 Button Expansion Modules can extend the capability of eNterprise IP telephones with up to 192 programmable buttons and dual colored lamp indicators. These buttons can be programmed as feature keys, speed call keys, direct station select or line appearance keys. The eNterprise series of IP telephones are ideal for cost effectively equipping local, remote and mobile employees with the proven productivity enhancing features of the Millennium, including call management, conferencing, presence management, call center, messaging and hundreds more.

eNterprise Digital Telephones
eOn’s next generation eNterprise digital telephones, available in 32-button and 22-button configurations, offer sleek designs and space saving form factors. They share a common physical appearance, user operation and feature functionality with that of the eNterprise IP telephones, providing users with a common look and feel, familiar feature interaction and simple training.

The eNterprise digital telephones offer several enhancements and advantages over eOn’s traditional digital telephones, including backlit LCD displays for improved visibility, dual-colored button lamps for improved feature operation and an adjustable base stand for easy height adjustment and wall mounting applications. The digital telephones are also compatible with the eNterprise IP 48 Button Expansion Modules for applications requiring high volume call management capabilities such as office receptionist positions.

Leverage the Power and Flexibility of Convergence with the Millennium In addition to IP and digital telephones, the eNterprise series offers updated analog telephones that are ideal for locations such as lobbies or reception areas, cafeterias, hallways, and other locations where telephone use is occasional. All telephones, IP, digital and analog versions, are powered by the proven Millennium Converged Communications Platform, providing features and applications that offer unprecedented connectivity and reliability.

Now, Millennium systems can be flexibly deployed in centralized or distributed IP configurations using any combination of IP, digital or even analog telephone configurations, with the eNterprise series of telephones providing seamless user experiences for all. This enables enterprises to select the communications technology that best matches the needs of the business and to migrate to IP telephony over time with no business disruption or compromise in performance.
