Appleton Papers Selects Delano as Key Element of e-Business Strategy

Delano enables industry leader to automate and streamline processes, interact more effectively with customers, and provide more efficient customer service

TORONTO---September 5, 2000---Delano Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: DTEC), a leading provider of interaction-based e-business solutions for the enterprise, today announced that Appleton Papers has selected the Delano™ e-Business Interaction Suite™ and Delano Customer Velocity™ as key components of its e-business strategy implementation. Appleton Papers, based in Appleton, Wis., is the world’s largest producer of carbonless and thermal papers.

The Delano e-Business Interaction Suite is an e-business platform that enables an organization to rapidly develop and deploy customized applications to manage enterprise-wide interactions with customers, partners, suppliers and employees. Delano’s e-business platform, together with Customer Velocity-a suite of e-marketing and e-service applications including marketing campaigns, surveys, newsletters, and e-mail response management-will enable Appleton Papers to use the Internet as a new channel for interacting with its customers.

The initial implementation of Delano’s e-business solution will focus on extending Appleton Papers’ call center capabilities to the Web, providing its customers with a number of self service options, including tracking order status, checking on product availability, and obtaining technical support. Delano will also enable Appleton Papers to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its customer service programs by automatically routing, escalating and responding to customer inquiries received via e-mail and the Web. Future applications will address the execution of e-marketing initiatives and managing the interactions around the online sale of its products.

“Delano is playing a significant role in ensuring that our commitment to customer satisfaction remains our highest priority, no matter what channel of interaction our customers choose to communicate with us,” said John Tucker, Vice President of Information Services for Appleton Papers. “The Delano e-Business Interaction Suite and Customer Velocity will enable us to augment our call center with a Web-enabled contact channel that improves our levels of customer service. Appleton Papers will be able to manage interactions with our customers and partners on an e-business platform which extends our existing applications and legacy data.”

“Appleton Papers and Delano share a single commitment: the customer,” said John Foresi, President and CEO of Delano. “Appleton Papers leads its industry when it comes to customer satisfaction and Delano is proud to be a part of helping extend their customer interactions to the Internet, enabling them to meet and exceed expectations by providing faster and more efficient service than ever before.”
