Corporation will host its third annual charity auction to benefit local charities during the holiday season. Courion employees will again bid on items donated by
employees, business partners, customers and local organizations and 100 percent of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to benefit The Neely House in Boston,
and Ginny’s Helping Hand, Inc. in Leominster, Mass.
The annual Courion auctions have raised a total of $17,500 in the past two years, benefiting such national charities as the Make-A-Wish foundation and local charities such
as the MATCH (Media and Technology Charter School) School in Boston. This year, Courion employees decided to donate to two locally based charities -- The Neely
House (http://www.camneelyfoundation.org) aims to provide comfort, support and hope to cancer patients and their
families; At Ginny’s Helping Hand (http://www.ginnyshelpinghand.org/index.htm), the motto is “A hand up, not
a hand out.” The organization is dedicated to improving the everyday living needs of the less fortunate by providing a food pantry, as well as gift certificates for
emergency needs (groceries, gasoline, etc).
“This is an employee-driven event and even in these uncertain economic times, our employees look forward to the annual charity auction,” said Chris Zannetos, president
and CEO, Courion. “We are all grateful for our own good fortune and we’re very happy to have the opportunity to help those in need in our local communities.”
Employees, customers and business partners donate items ranging from get-away packages for Boston, Cape Cod, skiing and sporting events featuring the San Diego
Padres, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, to homemade goods and services such as lasagna, baked goods and coupons for a fellow employee to clean your car off when
it snows.
“People get creative with their items,” said Dee Sendrowski, manager, human resources, Courion. “And we have a lot of fun bidding against each other. Last
year, two dozen Krispy Kreme donuts went for $75.”
With the help of its own Howard Chorney, director of quality assurance by day for Courion, a professional auctioneer on his own time, Courion hosts its annual charity
auction this Friday, December 5 and hopes to exceed its average annual proceeds.
