Courion's Continued Growth Signaled by Announcement of Two New Senior Executives

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - November 7, 2000 - Courion® Corporation, a leading developer of self-service identity management software, today announced the addition of two new executive team members experienced in building and leading public software companies - Mary Murphy, vice president of human resources and Gil Rodrigues, vice president of channel and international sales. Mary and Gil join recently appointed Vice President of Marketing Tom Rose on the executive management team.

These appointments are designed to reinforce the company's market leadership, maximize new business opportunities, and accelerate Courion's growth in the emerging self-service identity management market.

"The addition of these senior executives illustrates our goal of retaining and attracting the most talented professionals in the technology arena," said Chris Zannetos, CEO of Courion. "Mary and Gil embody Courion's commitment to building an unparalleled executive management team. We look forward to leveraging Mary's talents to attract and retain top-notch employees in this highly competitive market. As well, Gil's international experience is a tremendous asset as the company continues to introduce self-service identity management to new markets."

As vice president of human resources, Mary will oversee Courion's recruitment efforts, employee relations, and benefits administration, and will partner with the senior management team to retain Courion's culture as it continues its rapid growth.

Mary comes to Courion with 17 years of experience in various human resources roles. Most recently, she was the vice president of human resources at Ardent Software, a publicly traded software company. There, she was responsible for all policies and programs for Ardent's worldwide employee population, including delivery of management assessment programs, recruiting, compensation, and employee relations. Prior to joining Ardent, Mary served as director of human resources in Motorola's Mansfield, Mass. office. Mary began her HR career as a compensation and benefits analyst in Limerick, Ireland, working for Wang Laboratories and later transferred to the company's Lowell, Mass. office.

"I am excited by the opportunity to join Courion," said Murphy. "Courion is an extremely well-managed organization that emphasizes substance over hype. I'm looking forward to taking on this new role, expanding Courion's recruitment efforts, and ensuring that our employees are rewarded, not only financially and professionally, but personally as well."

Gil Rodrigues will be responsible for growing international sales for Courion, and is tasked with developing, managing, and supporting new and existing relationships with strategic channel partners.

Gil comes to Courion with solid experience building and leading international sales for public companies. As vice president of international sales at Raptor Systems, Gil helped lead the company through its IPO to become a leader in the security software market. Gil continued his focus on the security software industry at Authentica Software, where he served as vice president of international and U.S. federal sales. There, he was the seventh employee to join the company and was tasked with the ground-up design and implementation of a successful sales strategy that would target the U.S. government and the international arena. During his tenure, Gil grew the international sales portion of Authentica's sales into a major piece of their revenue and negotiated contracts with major partners and resellers in Tokyo, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and Germany. His twenty years of experience also includes senior level positions at Elron Software, Stardent Computer, Bull Information Systems, and Windata.

"I am so pleased to join Courion and assume leadership of Courion's international sales team. Courion's focus on identity management via self-service has great resonance in the international market, where user privacy regulations are even stronger than the U.S. I look forward to building on the existing momentum and to increasing our market leadership through channel partner programs, joint initiatives, and strategic alliances," said Rodrigues.
