AMERICA’S TOP CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL SELECTS COURION FOR INTEGRATED ACCOUNT PROVISIONING AND PASSWORD MANAGEMENT

Looks to Enhance Staff Productivity, Streamline Access to Critical IT Resources, and Ensure HIPAA Privacy Compliance

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — October 7, 2002  — Courion® Corporation, a leading provider of identity management lifecycle solutions, today announced that Children’s Hospital Boston, recently named America’s Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, has selected Courion’s AccountCourier™ for account provisioning and PasswordCourier® for password management.  With Courion’s technology, Children’s Hospital Boston expects to improve the speed by which its medical and administrative personnel can access key computer systems, reduce administrative burden by streamlining common user management tasks, and enforce stronger authentication, access, and auditing policies to increase data security and facilitate compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.

“We try to instill in our IT staff that enforcing strict security standards and achieving HIPAA compliance should not impact our ability to deliver the best possible patient care,” said Scott Ogawa, CTO, Children’s Hospital Boston.  “We selected Courion for integrated provisioning and password management because they demonstrated this same understanding, and offered solutions that were designed with both technical IT administrators and end users in mind.  AccountCourier’s workflow engine and provisioning policies are intuitive and easy-to-use, PasswordCourier’s self-service password reset features meet all of our requirements, and both solutions can support all of our platforms, including our numerous proprietary applications.”

AccountCourier, Courion’s account provisioning and user ID management solution, will enable authorized business managers and IT staff at Children’s Hospital Boston to instantly grant and revoke access to critical computing systems such as Windows NT, Active Directory, and LDAP directories instead of having to coordinate requests to numerous system administrators who use different native tools.  By providing Web-based policies that can automatically create, disable, modify, and delete IT accounts, and a centralized repository that associates users with their access rights, AccountCourier will simultaneously improve both security and service, while reducing costs.

PasswordCourier, Courion’s password reset and synchronization solution, will enable the staff at Children’s Hospital Boston to securely reset their own passwords without having to call a help desk agent, resulting in immediate cost savings to the hospital.

Both solutions will also assist Children’s Hospital Boston in complying with important HIPAA privacy provisions by consistently enforcing strong password policies across all IT systems, ensuring that users are properly authenticated for every password reset and account provisioning request, and capturing detailed audit trails for all changes in access rights.

“We are extremely excited that Children’s Hospital Boston has chosen our integrated account provisioning and password management solutions,” said Thomas Rose, vice president of marketing, Courion.  “This competitive win reinforces how much our customers value rapid ROI, ease-of-use, and the ability to deliver complete identity management solutions that enhance both security and service.  Our superior account provisioning technology, established leadership position in password management, and proven track record of results will continue to benefit us as the identity management market matures.”
