Chordiant and ILOG Team to Develop New Unified Rules-Based CRM SolutionILOG JRules Software Selected to Better Implement Personalization And One-to-One MarketingCUPERTINO, Calif., and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 30 -- Chordiant Software (Nasdaq: CHRD - news) and ILOG (Nasdaq: ILOG; EURO.NM) today announced an agreement under which ILOG JRules(TM) business rule engine software will be embedded in an upcoming release of the Chordiant Unified CRM (customer relationship management) Solution. ILOG JRules will be used to implement consistent business policies across CRM applications and customer touchpoints -- a feature that will help Chordiant customers build closer customer relationships by targeting their service and product offerings. The new Chordiant rules-based CRM system, enabled by ILOG JRules, will automate the execution of business policies affecting customer data and knowledge domains (e.g. groups of business policies on a particular topic). This automation means that Chordiant customers can provide a fast, consistent and personalized customer service experience, regardless of whether a customer calls in, faxes a request or visits a company's web site. ``We selected ILOG JRules because its flexibility allowed us to integrate the technology in record time -- crucial for fast deployment -- and the customizable business rule language support will allow us to offer a solution that business people can use,'' said Sam Spadafora, CEO for Chordiant Software. ``Customers are demanding more personalized web experiences and the ability to receive the right offer at the right time based on their need. ILOG's JRules will help us to deliver that one-to-one marketing.'' Important features of Chordiant's CRM solution are the ability to recognize users and individuals, manage knowledge domains relevant to each individual's relationship with the company, and provide a single view of the customer across the enterprise. Chordiant Unified CRM suite supports a wide range of customer communications channels, or touchpoints, including automated and Internet telephony systems, the Web, mobile devices, call centers, fax and email. ``Personalization is not just a nice-to-have feature in today's CRM systems, it's an essential element of the CRM value proposition,'' said Pierre Haren, president and CEO, ILOG. ``As a leading provider of optimization and personalization software engines for web self service, ILOG looks forward to this new ISV partnership, and to helping Chordiant build strong customer relationships.'' About ILOG JRules ILOG JRules is Java-based business rule engine that automates business processes, and executes and manages business rules/policies across many computer systems, while also allowing the business policies to be easily changed and updated as business conditions or customer needs change. For example, if a VIP customer is eligible for a range of benefits or a targeted promotion, the business rule could dictate, ``IF customer is a VIP customer, THEN offer 20% off every purchase.'' The response to the VIP customer will reflect the rule, optimize the VIP customer interaction and ultimately benefit both customer and company. ILOG JRules was the first business rule engine on the market to support the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). It was also the first product of its kind to support the emerging extensible markup language (XML), which means that business rules created with ILOG JRules can be shared like other data among XML-compatible systems. One of the unique features of ILOG JRules is the customizable business rule language feature for creating business rules using the business terminology specific to an industry rather than the usual one-size-fits-all business rule language.
