CUPERTINO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 17, 2003 -- Delphi Group took the opportunity at the Chordiant (Company
Profile, Past
Stories, Case
Studies) (NasdaqNM:CHRD - News) Customer Conference in Dublin this week to highlight business process management (BPM) as a significant new
business imperative, estimated to be worth EUR 440 million globally in 2003 alone. Research shared at the Conference revealed that by 2005 many companies will have
invested in some way in BPM to leverage the benefits of orchestrated business processes.
At the Conference, representatives of some of the world's leading organizations heard from Nathanial Palmer, vice president and chief analyst of the Delphi Group how the
shift from software client/server architectures to service-oriented architectures was enabling the business function to define, manage and change processes rather than
having to modify business processes around inflexible software.
Chordiant Software was hailed by Palmer as being 'ahead of the curve' in terms of business process management solutions, as its services oriented architecture made it
possible to integrate and orchestrate business processes, placing control of process definition in the hands of the business rather than the IT function.
"Process is a new business imperative, not just an IT issue," stated Palmer. "In the old world processes had to be molded around software, like enterprise
resource planning (ERP) applications, because the hard-coded software was too inflexible to be re-engineered. With the industry development of service-oriented
architectures, led by companies like Chordiant, enterprises can finally start to realize the benefits of process orchestration."
Palmer cited 2003 research by Delphi Group that demonstrated the extent of investment already taking place in business process management and revealed that 59% of
respondents saw BPM as an enabler in the creation of component-based applications. 53% of respondents also cited process orchestration as the primary reason for
implementing BPM.
Palmer was joined by a number of industry experts and some of the world's leading service industry brands in citing BPM as one of the most important and valuable
developments taking place in industry today. Palmer described Chordiant's products as being 'spot on' in terms of their alignment with this evolving business paradigm and
reassured Chordiant customers that they were in 'safe hands' with Chordiant.
