CHORDIANT SOFTWARE AND PRIMERESPONSE PARTNER TO SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATE RELATIONSHIP MARKETING WITH OPERATIONAL eCRM

Lloyds TSB First Customer to Implement the Joint Solution for Increased Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty

CUPERTINO, Calif. and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., October 17, 2000--Chordiant Software, Inc, (NASDAQ: CHRD), a leading provider of eBusiness infrastructure software for customer interaction, and Prime Response Inc. (NASDAQ: PRME; EASDAQ), a leader in business to consumer relationship marketing, have joined forces to create an integrated solution that will enable e-businesses to merge real-time relationship marketing with operational eCRM across all channels in order to increase customer loyalty and profitability.

The alliance between the two best-of-breed vendors will enable customers across the globe to engage in real-time, personalized marketing activity during routine interactions with customers, regardless of the channel used. The first customer to benefit from the partnership is leading UK bank, Lloyds TSB plc, which will link a new relationship marketing system from PrimeResponse to its new eCRM backbone being built with Chordiant.

Sam Spadafora, CEO of Chordiant Software, explained, “Marketing campaigns are generally carried out in isolation from operational customer activity, so companies cannot leverage them during real-time interactions with their customers. Customers, however, expect to be treated in a consistent manner during every kind of interaction. This partnership will allow joint Chordiant and PrimeResponse users to access and update operational customer profiles with data from discrete marketing campaigns, enabling personalized offers and service to be delivered
in real-time.”

Peter J. Boni, President and CEO of PrimeResponse, said: “PrimeResponse’s relationship marketing suite delivers real ROI to a company’s bottom line, either on its own, or working side-by-side with other best-of-breed solutions. This alliance is an example of our strategy to partner with best-in-class solutions to ensure our customers benefit from both worlds.”

Professor Wolfgang Martin of Meta has recently asserted that this kind of integration of relationship marketing automation software with operational eCRM deployed in real- time across multiple channels will become an essential feature of the truly customer-centric enterprise. “Traditional database-oriented campaign management is no longer an issue,” he said. “Instead, sales, service and marketing activities have to be embedded into the ‘engage-transact-fulfill-service’ patterns across the entire lifecycle.”

A common interface will allow customer data and processes to be shared between Chordiant 2.0, the current version of Chordiant’s eCRM infrastructure software, and Prime@Vantage™, the current version of PrimeResponse’s relationship marketing suite. Implementation of the joint solution will be carried out at each customer site by common systems integration.

A white paper describing how the two solutions work together is available to download from the Chordiant Web site http://www.chordiant.com .
