Banter Appoints David Zinman Vice President of Marketing

SAN FRANCISCO (March 3, 2003) – Banter today announced the appointment of
David Zinman as vice president of marketing. Zinman will oversee all
marketing and product management activities for Banter.

Banter is the leading provider of technology that understands people. Wells
Fargo, Royal Bank of Canada, ABN AMRO and other customers use Banter’s
patented technology to control customer support costs and improve customer
satisfaction.  Banter’s infrastructure software understands written,
informal communication, enabling applications to automatically respond to,
route or filter email, self-service inquiries, instant messages and more.
Banter partners with CRM software leaders like Siebel, KANA, Remedy and
Avaya.

“Dave Zinman's track record of proven success in marketing will help Banter
improve its leadership in the CRM and contact center industries,” said Yoram
Nelken, founder and CEO of Banter. “At Avasta, Dave shaped a successful
channel strategy with system integrators. And given his experience building
AdKnowledge from scratch into a company that sold for almost $200 million,
Dave's substantial entrepreneurial and management skills will be a
tremendous asset for our team.”

Zinman founded Focalink, the pioneer of B2B applications for online
marketing. The company merged with ClickOver to form AdKnowledge, which was
then successfully sold to Engage. Prior to Focalink, where he also served as
CEO and vice president of marketing, Zinman was a technology consultant to
Fortune 500 companies at Deloitte & Touche. He also worked in marketing,
sales and strategic planning for MetLife.

Zinman’s marketing experience includes positions as vice president of
marketing and business development for Avasta and vice president of
marketing for CoVia. Zinman is an active evangelist, with appearances on
CNN, CNNfn and NPR, as well as conducting numerous speaking engagements and
university lectures. He holds an MBA degree from Stanford University and a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University.
