American Eagle Outfitters Launches ATG Powered e-Commerce Site (email this article)

AE.com Provides Seamless Customer Experience, Demonstrates Progressive eCommerce Strategy for Leading Retailer

CRM Headline News

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2005--ATG (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies) (Art Technology Group, NASDAQ: ARTG) the software provider behind the most consistent and relevant marketing, commerce, and customer service experiences, today announced that leading lifestyle retailer American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (AE) has re-launched key customer channels on the ATG Customer Experience Platform, including their Web site (ae.com), call-center operations, and order management in one, integrated system. ATG Commerce, a key element of the platform, is the recognized leader in BtoC (business-to-consumer) commerce, according to recent reports published by analyst firms Forrester Research and Gartner, Inc.

American Eagle Outfitter's new Web site will drive sales growth and help the company build even stronger relationships with its customers. For AE, stabilizing and enhancing the shopping experience became critical to further increasing market presence and strengthening relationships with a consumer base that is dynamic, active, and leading-edge. The company is delivering on that vision through state-of-the-art features and functionality from ATG that bring deeper capabilities for marketing, merchandising, personalization, cross-selling, and up-selling. In addition, ATG's dynamic, multi-channel commerce capabilities can push relevant information and promotions across any purchase point - such as a register, kiosk, call center, or online portal - as AE strives to provide a unique and rich customer experience across all customer touchpoints.

AE.com migrated smoothly from their old architecture to the new, best-in-class ATG platform -- critical for a retailer gearing up for the holiday rush. Further, ATG will enable AE to continue to refresh and add newer functionality to the site easily and efficiently, allowing them to continue to stay ahead of the competition.

"As we carefully evaluated vendor technology, it became clear that ATG provides the essential functionality that AE requires to deliver on our online commerce mission: to create truly personalized, targeted, and leading-edge marketing, sales, and self-service applications that foster a dynamic and meaningful rapport with our customers," said Dave Brumback, director of operations, AE Direct. "It also became clear that ATG shared our vision for our future, which was a critical factor for us. As a result, ATG's Professional Services Group was able to play a vital role in helping us architect and develop the new systems."

AE is running the latest version of ATG Commerce, taking advantage of many of the newest features such as promotional up-sell, merchandising, and the integration of ATG Search into the Commerce catalog. Further, the new AE architecture includes a CSR (customer service representative) interface on the ATG platform, which includes customer service applications such as Commerce Assist, to provide a singular view of the customer from all major channels. With Commerce Assist, customer service representatives receive complete e-commerce support to help customers through buying, ordering, and service requests.

ATG will enable real-time data and information interchange to the call center, back-office, and store systems in order to drive a customer experience that maintains context and continuity through every channel a customer uses.

"American Eagle Outfitters is a premier retailer with a distinct and original brand identity. We are thrilled to team with them to further enhance that brand and deliver the personalization, commerce, and online self-service underpinnings of the company's e-commerce initiative," said Cliff Conneighton, senior vice president of marketing, ATG. "There is no better platform on the market to drive AE's goal of providing their multi-channel customers with the finest shopping experience possible. With the ATG Customer Experience Platform, AE will grow their brand while creating a unique and compelling online experience for their multi-channel customer base."
