Hey Oracle Not So Fast!

Claims of being the only CRM software vendor to offer integrated mobile CRM solution fails to recognize CRM pioneer Astea’s wireless product suite

Horsham, PA, August 14, 2001–Okay, so we all like to brag.  But Oracle’s  (NASDAQ: ORCL) announcement last week claiming to be the first software vendor to offer an integrated mobile CRM application overlooks one notable example.  Astea International (NASDAQ: ATEA) has been offering wireless, integrated CRM solutions for many years that are used by Fortune 500 companies that sell and service equipment. Last Spring, Astea introduced a comprehensive suite of mobile CRM applications and has completed first shipments of this next-generation product line, again, to Fortune 500 companies. In fact, one recent customer is rolling out AlliancePocket PC for Service to over 2,300 of their field service technicians.

“I was surprised by the Oracle announcement considering that we have had this functionality for years,” says Greg Cicio, vice president of strategic planning and corporate development at Astea International. “AllianceEveryWareUR is everything you need, everywhere you are. It provides the field sales force, the field service force and soon the professional services field force with access to customer information, decision support, and administrative tools tightly integrated with their enterprise systems, thus collapsing interdependent business processes and yielding huge savings while increasing the velocity of business.”

AllianceEveryWareUR offers Astea’s AllianceEnterprise CRM Suite users a wide variety of mobile CRM choices that match field requirements to preferred mobile technologies and devices, including laptops, hand-helds, cell phones and pagers.

Untethered applications offer advantages of always having necessary decision-support and administrative tools available to the mobile worker, even in locations where other forms of mobile CRM are ineffective, such as in transmission-restricted areas and remote sites that are out-of-range for wireless links. Portable versions of AllianceEnterprise travel with employees, enabling data lookup and entry using client applications on- and off-line.

Real-time wireless applications exchange data with AllianceEnterprise as short messages that can be sent, quickly and securely, to individuals, groups or an entire organization. Employees can be equipped with one device for both voice and data communications, offering significant functional and cost advantages for mobile workforce management.
