Lawrence Byrd is Avaya’s Convergence Strategist and helps drive the definition and communication of Avaya’s solutions strategy. Lawrence has over twelve years of customer relationship management (CRM), telephony and contact center experience and over twenty-five years of advanced software and Internet experience. He is a recognized public speaker on the customer economy and how communications and CRM initiatives can be successfully deployed by enterprises to grow their business. Lawrence was previously a co-founder of Quintus Corporation in 1984, and held a range of positions including Director, VP R&D, VP Consulting, VP Marketing and Chief Strategy Officer before Avaya acquired Quintus in April 2001. Quintus was a leading provider of software for multi-channel contact centers that integrated phone, web, email and other communications, and this technology is now part of the Avaya Solutions portfolio. Lawrence has a BA in Philosophy from Durham, England, and for five years was a research associate at the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He lives in Mountain View, California with his spouse and two children.
