Gary Zilk is a key part of SupportSoft, Inc.’s worldwide marketing initiative and acts as the product spokesperson for support automation solutions. He is responsible for the development and execution of marketing strategies for the company’s online support automation solution, as well as its broadband service provider solution. With an in-depth understanding of the support automation industry, he is able to comment on the following topics:

His motto is “It’s customers over everything, customers come first.” Zilk’s greatest challenge as senior product manager for SupportSoft is to educate the market on how support automation solutions can truly solve common day business pain points. “There’s nothing more rewarding than witnessing the ‘A-ha’ moment when people ‘click’ and see that support automation is going to solve all of those annoying IT problems they’ve been experiencing for years.”
 
Zilk also serves as the company’s corporate evangelist and works closely with industry and market analysts to structure SupportSoft messaging and strategy. He was instrumental in SupportSoft becoming an industry leader, with more successful deployments in Global 2000 businesses than any other company in the industry.
 
SupportSoft’s reliable and effective technology is what ultimately led Zilk to join the company in 1999. During his time at PeopleSoft, he experienced trouble with his Internet connection and phoned the company’s helpdesk for a quick solution. After spending hours downloading multiple software applications, the problem was still not resolved. He decided to try out SupportSoft’s automation software and within five minutes, his technical problem was solved. Zilk was sold on the technology and has spent the last four years promoting the support solution that personally helped him.
 
During his time at PeopleSoft, Zilk was responsible for financial applications, including the company’s first 100% Internet-enabled solution. As product strategy manager, he focused on the company vision for financial products and grew annual revenues in excess of $50 million. Prior to this role, he helped market products for Intel’s Flash memory division.
 
As a Magna Cum Laude graduate in Finance from the University of Oregon, Zilk began his career in the finance industry. He held a variety of financial management positions with the Chevron Corporation, where he prepared award-winning corporate forecasts. He later received an MBA with marketing honors from the University of California, Davis.
 
In his spare time, Zilk enjoys spending time with his 18-month old son or can be found skiing on the waters of Lake Tahoe or the Delta in Northern California.
