Brent Frei

Brent Frei is chairman, CEO and co-founder of Onyx Software Corporation (Nasdaq: ONXS). In this role, Frei is responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction of Onyx Software. Under his leadership, the company has grown to become one of the leading global suppliers of customer relationship management software - business applications that companies use to connect sales, marketing and service organizations with customers, prospects and partners.
 
Since Frei founded Onyx in 1994, the company has grown dramatically, with more than 450 employees worldwide. Onyx has offices throughout the United States and in Japan, Australia, Europe and Asia, as well as an impressive network of software, hardware, services and distribution partnerships worldwide.
 
The company has won several prestigious awards for fostering an outstanding corporate culture, and succeeding in business through product innovation. For the past three years, Onyx has been named a Deloitte & Touche "Fast 500" company, with a five-year compound annual revenue growth rate of 123 percent through 2000. Onyx has also been honored by ISM in each of the last six years for having one of the top 15 CRM software solutions. The company was a double-honoree at the 2000 Microsoft Industry Solutions Awards, winning best customer relationship portal and best customer service solution.
 
As a leader, Frei has been recognized as a "Pioneer in Technology" by the Smithsonian Institute and was among an exclusive handful of global CEOs selected to represent the technology industry at the Technology Pioneers' session of the 2000 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. In June 2000, Frei was the sole recipient of Dartmouth College’s Thayer School of Engineering Fletcher Award for lifetime achievement-the youngest recipient ever selected for this award.
 
Prior to co-founding Onyx, Frei was a programmer analyst with Microsoft Corporation, where he was the primary architect of an integrated, international customer relationship management system used for sales, marketing, customer service, and product support by Microsoft’s international subsidiaries and still in use today. Before his tenure at Microsoft, Frei received patents for several of his cellular system designs as a mechanical engineer at Motorola. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering, and his AB in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.
 
Frei grew up on a 1,000-acre wheat farm in Grangeville, Idaho with his parents and five siblings.
