Q: What things should I consider in selecting a CRM solution for my business?
There are many things you must consider when selecting a CRM solution. Your selection will be dependent on IT infrastructure, industry, and customer service model. However, there are three key elements to consider:
1. Consider how you currently perform the function CRM will support. Chances are you already do some of the things CRM software can automate. In addition, you do not want to have to reinvent how you do the things you company does.
2. Document those points in which you interact with your customers. Decide what information you collect when you interact with this, plus what information your people need to support them better.
3. Get feedback from your employees about what their CRM related needs are. This tip goes a long way to improving buy-in from employees. Remember, they actually have to use the system for it to be successful in your business.
It sounds simple, but too few managers consider
these three factors and end up with a "solution" that costs more than it produces. Sit down with your people and go over these elements, document them, and consider them before you consider a CRM solution.
