Eleven Easy Steps to Master the Art of Process Design- No vacuuming; create a cross functional team of process workers.
- Conduct focus groups, brainstorming sessions to develop requirements and flow.
- Work with post it notes to define the process elements required and allow you to move them around.
- Identify a conflict resolution process that is fun.
- Capture tasks associated with each work step and required responsibilities including skill sets needed.
- Reward people for participating in the design process.
- Make sure you prototype!!!! This will tell you if you are rounding home or caught in a pickle.
- Keep process design sessions to no longer than 2 hours.
- If you are integrating processes establish integration points and test your technology. Many technologies tout integration but little really provide it.
- Bring in hired help or a good facilitator that knows how to develop great process designs.
This will make the process easier and faster.
- Have fun with it!!!! Celebrate successes!
